WHY THE 2520 PROPHECY IS NOT IMPORTANT

By Dwayne LemonThere are individuals today that will take a figure that was on William Millers chart and they will use that figure as a means of saying if you do not believe in this number called the 2520, you are an apostate. There are certain individuals saying that. There are Adventists today that go around saying there is a 2520 prophecy. We have fallen away from the truth God has given us as a people. We were taught how to study the Bible. The Spirit of God leads us line upon line, precept upon precept but most people took a chart with a number on it and took an abstract quotation from the Spirit of Prophecy where Ellen White spoke highly of the chart and nothing should be altered on it but they DID NOT FINISH the statement. She said nothing should be altered on it accept by inspiration. In other words, if inspiration says something on this chart was wrong, then they have an authority to remove it. People forgot about that so they went around talking about a 2520 and allowing groups and camps to come together and it became an instrument that the devil used to create a segregation among the people of God. In a time where were 71 times in the Spirit of Prophecy we are told to press together, press together, press together, there are individuals trying to separate over something that doesn’t even exist. You say what do you mean? I will tell you exactly.
Leviticus 26If we faithfully studied Leviticus the 26th chapter which is where this so called 2520 prophecy came into existence (http://www.2520yearprophecy.com/) , we would find there is no 2520 prophecy. That’s all we need to do but we didn’t do it that way, we failed. We began to listen to what other people were saying about a chart and an abstract quote. As a result we failed.
2520 or 2300Which one is longer? 2520 right? A child can understand that right? Why is it that if 2520 is the longest time prophecy then why does EGW say 2300 days is the longest time prophecy in the Bible?
There will always be false and fanatical movements made by persons in the church who claim to be led of God–those who will run before they are sent and will give day and date for the occurrence of unfulfilled prophecy. The enemy is pleased to have them do this, for their successive failures and leading into false lines cause confusion and unbelief.–2SM 84 (1897). {LDE 35.2}
No Time Prophecy Beyond 1844I plainly stated at the Jackson camp meeting to these fanatical parties that they were doing the work of the adversary of souls; they were in darkness. They claimed to have great light that probation would close in October, 1884. I there stated in public that the Lord had been pleased to show me that there would be no definite time in the message given of God since 1844.–2SM 73 (1885). {LDE 35.3}
Our position has been one of waiting and watching, with no time-proclamation to intervene between the close of the prophetic periods in 1844 and the time of our Lord’s coming.–10MR 270 (1888). {LDE 36.1}
The people will not have another message upon definite time. After this period of time [Revelation 10:4-6], reaching from 1842 to 1844, there can be no definite tracing of the prophetic time. The longest reckoning reaches to the autumn of 1844.–7BC 971 (1900). {LDE 36.2}
How simple is that? Are you saying that the prophet suddenly had a mathematical challenge in her mind? A child can understand 2520 is more than 2300 but the prophet of God under inspiration says the longest prophecy in the bible is the 2300 days. That should have settled it right there. But because individuals are holding onto ignorance God had to magnify it even further.
There are many precious truths contained in the Word of God, but it is “present truth” that the flock needs now. I have seen the danger of the messengers running off from the important points of present truth, to dwell upon subjects that are not calculated to unite the flock and sanctify the soul. {EW 63.1}
She then says in the next paragraph what present truth was.But such subjects as the sanctuary, in connection with the 2300 days, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, are perfectly calculated to explain the past Advent movement and show what our present position is, establish the faith of the doubting, and give certainty to the glorious future. These, I have frequently seen, were the principal subjects on which the messengers should dwell. {EW 63.2}
She says NOTHING about 2520 days! 2520 is veering off points of present truth. The sanctuary in connection with the 2300 days, the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, these are perfectly calculated to unite the flock, sanctify the soul and show the glorious future of the advent movement. Nothing about 2520. If that is not enough, there was a 1843 chart. If someone says the prophet said in 1843 chart nothing should be altered. Therefore inspiration was saying nothing should be altered on the chart. If that were true, then do you know we have a prophet and a group of pioneers that violated the very command of God? You ought to know why.
1843, 1850, 1863In 1843 there was a chart by William Miller with 2520 on it. In 1850 there was another chart with the 2520 on it. But in 1863 there was another chart and guess what? No 2520 on it. There was no 2520 on the chart in 1863, neither the charts to come thereafter. No 2520. If that is not enough I leave the best for last. The pioneers came together. This is James White himself. James White the husband of the prophet. If you know Adventist history, there were certain things that James White taught that Ellen White didn’t agree with and Ellen White had to check them. She had to let him know, no this is not right, the Lord has shown me otherwise and she was being faithful in Ephesians 4:11-14 one of the functions of a prophet is to make sure that the brethren are not tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine. However, they studied Leviticus 26 and said this;
So then, there is no prophetic period in Lev. xxvi; {January 26, 1864 JWe, ARSH 68.12}
How clear of this? We have hundreds possibly thousands who have allowed themselves to be broken away over something that doesn’t exist.
…and those who imagine that such a thing exists, and are puzzling themselves over the adjustment of its several dates, are simply beating the air. To ignore, or treat with neglect, a prophetic period where one is plainly given, is censurable in the extreme. It is an equally futile, though not so heinous, a course, to endeavor to create one where none exists. {January 26, 1864 JWe, ARSH 68.12}
2520 is not a real prophecy and yet we have individuals teaching this but not only teaching it and using it as a catalyst to begin to tell us that in 9/11 supposedly according to a reinterpretation of the trumpets that now in 9/11 supposedly this is when the loud cry started and they misunderstand Life Sketches page 411. They never connected it to Testimonies volume 7 page 141. They never did line upon line, the same Holy Spirit that inspired the writings of the bible is the same Holy Spirit that inspired the writings of Ellen White. Therefore the same method that the Holy Spirit uses to study the bible is the same method we should use to study the sop. When you study the sop you should study what? Line upon line. What they did is looked at LS page 411 and said look at that, tis talking about the towers going down and the lord will shake terribly the earth and then Revelation 18:1-3 shall come to pass. Therefore, 9/11 took place therefore revelation 18 must come to pass because God shook terribly the earth and therefore they began giving the loud and now they teach people the doctrine that the loud cry started at 9/11. They did not compare it to Testimonies Volume seven page 141 where the prophet of God makes it very clear that passing of the national Sunday law, then God will shake terribly the earth. They didn’t study line upon line. They are modern day Pharisees, individuals who are taking the words of God and claiming to be stickers for truth claiming to be followers of the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy but at the same time they are fading away from bible truth.

  2. May the Lord still send the Holy Spirit and soften the hearts of those who reject the 2520 time prophecy. Read carefully, and slowly, and may you discern the voice of the Holy Spirit so that you may obey and follow the truth. The truth shall set you free! God bless.

    1. In the book Early Writings pg 74, it tells us that God had repeatedly sent His angel to walk the 'chosen one', Wm. Miller through the Bible and guided his mind, and opened his understanding to prophecies that had ever been dark to God's people. Wm Miller was led to have the chain of truths which were unfolded to him put upon charts which is in fulfillment with Habbakuk 2:2 EGW said and I quote "I saw that the 1843 chart was directed by the hand of the Lord and that it should not be altered, that the figures were as he wanted them . . . Those figures on the 1843 chart included the 2520 prophecy as well as the 2300 day prophecy. If the 2520 was in error on the chart this would mean that the Angel whom God sent repeatedly to guide Wm Miller through the scriptures had erred? Is that possible? No God does not error as feeble human beings. No where does it indicate that God showed the prophetess that Wm Miller had erred in the figures, but that that the figures were as he (God) wanted them. Importantly, she says that she saw that God was in the publishment of the chart by Brother Nicholson who designed it. This tells me that the opposers of the 2520 on the chart are not fighting against those being led of God to accept our precious Advent history but against God himself - yes there battle is with God. EGW goes on to say that she saw that there was a publication of the chart in the Bible (where??? in the Bible), and if this chart is designed for God's people, it is for another. She says, "I SAW THAT THE CHARTS ORDERED BY GOD struck the mind favorably even without an explanation." 13 Manuscript Release 359. When I got on my knees and began to seek after God for truth He led me to a study on our Advent history. I embrace it, I love it, it strikes my mind favorably. The truth on the 1843 chart is our foundation as Adventists. The 1850 chart retains that foundation and adds to it the platform which illustrates many of the pillars of SDA beliefs. These opposers of truth later published another chart to denounce the truths on the 1843 and 1850 charts. By the grace of God from the depths of my heart I warn us to "Believe them not" They are false prophets gone out from among us to deceive if it were possible the very elect of God!! We must prove all things ourselves trusting in no man.

    2. God doesn't produce errors but people surely do. William Miller also taught that Christ was coming back in October of 1844 and we are still here. I believe Pastor Miller loved Jesus but it's interesting that if anyone else were to set a date (there have been multitudes) and it doesn't come to pass we would call them a "false" prophet.

    3. So basically, you are calling William miller a false prophet, like the rest of the world. William Miller's messages were from the angel Gabriel who is next to the throne of God. William Miller had the prophecies right, just the wrong event. The Millerite preachers, 300 of them, were preaching the 1843 and 1850 charts and continued to do so for 20 yrs. Not ONCE, did EGW correct them about teaching the false prophecy of the 2520 .Their fruits are how you will know them. I see good fruitage from Paths of the Just and Pippenger groups, but from the main church, all I see is apostasy from the truth and alignment with Rome. I do not think that everything these groups teach is correct, but the 2520 is valid or EGW is a false prophet when she endorses the TWO charts. She never endorsed the 1863 chart and James White preached the 2520 for 20 years until several strokes affected his thinking. In 20 years, not ONE rebuke from God's prophet to her husband, about preaching the 2520. EGW was and is no false prophet, therefore the 2520 is valid and anyone who says it is not valid needs to get on their knees prayerfully and ask the Lord's help to see the truth. The Millerites were God's people and were in error on some points, so Pippenger and Paths of the Just may be in error on some points and still be God's servants.

  3. I've just been newly exposed to the 2520 message. First I'm still investigating the 2520 to see if it's valid. Now, reading your post gives me the impression that you are saying to those who listen to you should take your word for it. I believe your tactic is wrong and it has the flavor of the pharisee order. This tactic I believe is the tactic that separates the believers of Jesus Christ. The reason I say this is that you accuse the brethren as being apostates, without fairly posting everthing in context. I've heard some oftrue 2520 messages. And there many statements you made were out of context. No one needs to follow anyone, we all need to study the bible and the spirit of prophecies for ourselves. This what I propose is that we a bible study out this issue, so that we can come to the truth of the matter. It's better than accusing each. And it's ok to disagree without condemning those who see things differently. Again I propose that we start with your first state the 2520 is not consider by no one as a prophecy. I will do some research and get to you. If that's ok. God bless

  4. What else shall we study? Shall we watch movies all the time? In our days churches are filled with unbearable superficiality, no reverence in the House of the Lord and the sermons are at the the kindergarden level of spiritual understanding.
    People love the 2520 and it makes perfect sense to a spiritual educated mind. For those who don't practice to use their brains at all, it is indeed hard do discern the message, but it will come with time.
    2520 is true and it uses a different parts, if not all of the brain that was not challenged before to be used, with all this superficiality that is killing the sincere people of God seeking for the truth. Please let sincere people to believe the truth and don't hinder them with superficial arguments like this! Aren't you afraid of the day of Judgement?....

  5. Of course we need to ask the Holy Spirit to show the truth to us! It;s a sin to tell other what to believe or not to believe, does not represent God's character at all! I look around and I feel aches in my soul to see hoe people are misusing the patience of God and love themselves and their idols....
    The message about 2520 changed my life and helped me to become more serious with my Adventism! I was always looking for a deeper interpretation of the Bible, because the 28 doctrines were not enough for me! I am amazed how God led me to meet someone who gave me this message! It came into a such circumstances that Dwayne Lemon will never be able to convince me with all his human arguments that 2520 doesn't include the everlasting Gospel! Please, people! Study for yourselves and ask the Holy Spirit to give you the right impression about these prophecies!.... The biggest mistake people do is judging things with other people's mind, not with their own! But nobody will be able to save you from the consequences, if you missed the truth. Spirit of Prophecy says that "people will not be punish in the final day because they believed a lie, but because they rejected the truth!"... I can't believe such a beautiful and deep truth is thrown into trash, when it can sanctify their characters!... Just give it a try!....

  6. I find it interesting that they never actually quote where Ellen White supposedly writes in stone that the 2300 is the longest prophecy; they just make reference to it so that you must take their word for it. It's also interesting that some of the quotes used as proofs in this article could easily proove the 2520 just the same. "The longest reckoning [of a time prophecy]reaches to the autumn of 1844." Well, those who advocate the 2520 know that the 2520 ends in the autumn of 1844, thus fitting well with this quote. I don't know why quotes regarding "time no more after 1844" are used because no one has said that the 2520 extends past 1844. The rejection of the 2520 is used not just singularly, but also as a means to deny the pioneer understandings of the daily, the trumpets, and the 1290 and 1335 (which, by they way, Ellen White never mentions in the Great Controversy either, yet does not remove their signifcance). To me, this is very important because the rejection of these truths (especially the trumpets) destroys the understanding that the living are being judged and that we need to prepare like never before for our close of probation and Christ's coming. I will admit, the views of presenters like Pippenger, Richards, Taylor, Sankey, Dewey, and much more were hard to swallow at first. By no means could any person understand their points without diligent study. For Pastors like Lemon, Kirkpatrick, Wohlberg, and others to dismiss these points so rashly and uniformly does not make sense. What is especially interesting to note is that if you view the article written by Apollos Hale regarding the 2520, he battles agains the very same arguments that these pastors argue. To uphold the non-adventist protestant points of view (especially against the Millerite understanding) triggers a rather large red flag for me. After all, the protestants in Miller's time were left in darkness and having their prayers answered by Satan. Please, readers, spend some time on this subject. Weigh it carefully. You do not want to end up like Belshazzar with the pronouncement of "mene, mene, tekel, upharsin."

    1. Jackson..Here's the references directly referred to by EGW as "longest prophecy"
      The experience of the disciples who preached the “gospel of the kingdom” at the first advent of Christ, had its counterpart in the experience of those who proclaimed the message of His second advent. As the disciples went out preaching, “The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is at hand,” so Miller and his associates proclaimed that the longest and last prophetic period brought to view in the Bible was about to expire, that the judgment was at hand, and the everlasting kingdom was to be ushered in. The preaching of the disciples in regard to time was based on the seventy weeks of Daniel 9. The message given by Miller and his associates announced the termination of the 2300 days of Daniel 8:14, of which the seventy weeks form a part. The preaching of each was based upon the fulfillment of a different portion of the same great prophetic period. {CIHS 74.2}

      In the summer of 1844, midway between the time when it had been first thought that the 2300 days would end, and the autumn of the same year, to which it was afterward found that they extended, the message was proclaimed in the very words of Scripture: “Behold, the Bridegroom cometh!” {CIHS 82.2}

      That which led to this movement was the discovery that the decree of Artaxerxes for the restoration of Jerusalem, which formed the starting point for the period of the 2300 days, went into effect in the autumn of the year 457 B.C., and not at the beginning of the year, as had been formerly believed. Reckoning from the autumn of 457, the 2300 years terminate in the autumn of 1844. {CIHS 82.3}

  7. Jackson,

    The expression "The longest reckoning reaches to the autumn of 1844" can only be in reference to the 2300. Why? Because she does not mention 2520 in that paragraph at all. She only mentions the 2300 time prophecy. Thus, to claim that she is referring to the 2520 is to INDUCE a time period that she never mention, and IGNORE the time period that she DID mention.

    I'm sorry, but so far, the 2520 people simply are famous for hopping, skipping, and dancing between the raindrops, and peekaboo and ring around the rosy. This 2520 prophecy is a huge waste, and a massive distraction. It really needs to STOP. And we mean it.

  10. The supposed 2520 of Leviticus 26 is a no time-based prophecy, and has been soundly discredited by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its pioneers since 1864.

    The support for it which is alleged to come from Sis White is based solely on misplaced inference, as opposed to any direct statement of support from God's messenger.

    See the following for more details:

    Such contortions must be made to turn Leviticus 26 into a time-based prophecy like Daniel 7 or 9, that it is nothing more than wresting the scriptures to ones own destruction. We need to study to show ourselves approved unto God.

    Only prayerful study through the power of the Holy Spirit will enable us to discern truth from error.

    I was shown that the truth once published now, will stand, for it is the truth for the last days; it will live, and less need be said upon it in future. Numberless words need not be put upon paper to justify what speaks for itself and shines in its clearness. Truth is straight, plain, clear, and stands out boldly in its own defense; but it is not so with error. It is so winding and twisting that it needs a multitude of words to explain it in its crooked form. ... —Early Writings, 96 (1853). {CW 15.3}
